I'm usually in the VW section, but I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who has an S3.
He bought an RNS-E at the beginning of this year. It was the latest version at the time - I think a 2009 model.

He's only had it for around 6 months, and recently it comes up with 'CD/DVD is unreadable. Please check the CD/DVD' on startup. It does it with the Nav DVD as well as any audio disks he tries. Obviously a DVD based Nav system with an unreadable disk is pretty useless!

Is there anything that can be done to fix this? I guess its probably a case of replacing the whole DVD drive? If this is the case, where can a replacement drive be purchased from?
I had a search on eBay the other day and there wasn't anything then. Can someone point me in the direction of where to get one and perhaps even a 'how to' on swapping them over?
