This is Complete part listing of all RNS-510 Navigation Units manufactured for USA market, which also includes Canada and Mexico.


Original Introduction of RNS-510 To USA Market was in 2010 VW Models, but Navigation units were already manufactured much earlier than that, as early as 2008.
We all know how great this unit is and how well it integrates into our cars, but not many know all the details about them. So here is some information for those that might find it useful.

VW Part Number - Detailed Description and Firmware level

3C0 035 684 - First Generation RNS-510 (Latest firmware 1140 upgrades this unit to 3C0 035 684D) - First Generation Unit. - Also referred internally as "C3 Sample"
7L6 035 684 - Same as above but for VW TOUAREG

3C0 035 684 A - Second Generation of RNS-510 (Latest firmware 1140 upgrades this unit to 3C0 035 684D) - Also referred internally as "C4C Sample"
7L6 035 684 A - Same as above but for VW TOUAREG
3C0 035 684 B - Part of second generation run as well as the A unit. This unit was specifically made for Parts Only/Repair depot. (Latest firmware available is 0380) Also referred internally as "C6 Sample"
7L6 035 684 B - Same as above but for VW TOUAREG

3C0 035 684 C - Third Generation of RNS-510 (Latest firmware 1140 upgrades this unit to 3C0 035 684D) - Also referred internally as "C6 Sample"
7L6 035 684 C - Same as above but for VW TOUAREG
3C0 035 684 D - Part of third generation run as well as the C unit. This unit was specifically made for Parts Only/Repair depot. (Latest firmware available is 1040) - Also referred internally as "C6 Sample"
7L6 035 684 D - Same as above but for VW TOUAREG

3C0 035 684 E - Fourth Generation of RNS-510 (Manufacturing starts week 22 of 2011) - (Latest firmware available is 2625) - Also referred internally as "C10 Sample"
3C0 035 684 F - Part of fourth generation run as well as the E unit. This unit was specifically made for Parts Only/Repair depot (No Warranty) - (Latest firmware available is 2625) - Also referred internally as "C10 Sample"
7L6 035 684 F - Was dropped out of cycle and will no longer be supported. The last unit for Touareg to appear was 7L6 035 684 D All Touareg RNS-510's are now discontinued from support and further development. RNS-850 replaced this unit in New 2011 Touareg's.


The latest firmware being loaded at the factory as of April 25th 2011 for US units is "2625"
C Version "1140" firmware has certified by VWoA and now available for download on our Forum. All RNS-510 Samples, Including Samples (C3/C4C/C6) essentially meaning supporting even the First Generation RNS-510 with this firmware.
So all units are upgradeable to this latest "C Version" firmware but HD Radio Subchannels only work on C Version Hardware and above.
