Welcome to the 850 forum!
For those of you that aren't familiar with this system, it's the 60GB navigation system equipped in the New Touareg from 2011 onward and includes all of the features of the popular 510 plus some nice additions like 3D landmarks.
From the VW.com site:
In-dash technology: help simplify driving... and your life.
The 8-inch color touch screen serves as your interface to GPS and navigation features. Get turn-by-turn directions to your destination, find pit stops along the way, and map the route back home again.
Ready to hit the road?
Plug in a destination to see the best route mapped on the screen and hear turn-by-turn directions.
Routing features help you become your own tour guide.
- Tour Mode programs multiple destinations into one trip.
- Waypoint Tours record paths to help you navigate trails.
- Nav Companion compatibility lets you find destinations on the VW Nav Companion web site and transfer them to an SD Card for the road.
Keep it moving
Steer clear of slowdowns, construction, and other frustrations with real-time alerts from SIRIUSŪ Traffic. Every new 2011 Touareg with the RNS-850 system ships with a complimentary 3-month trial of SIRIUSŪ Traffic. Traffic tickets will slow you down, too. To help you avoid them, the nav system shows the speed limit almost everywhere you drive.
Navigate into a parking space?
Back up with a better view. When the 2011 Touareg is shifted into reverse, the camera gives the driver a live feed on what's happening behind the car on the 8-inch display. Lines overlaying the screen even show the back-up path. The Park Distance Control (PDC) beeps as you get close to an object. In fact, the closer you get, the faster it beeps. When the beeping becomes a continuous tone, it's time to hit the brakes.
Make it yours
Choose whether you want a 2D or 3D perspective on your route. And literally get the lay of the land with topographic and bird's eye views, as well as a simple compass. You can even save favorites and store your home address, so you can find the way back to where you came from.
I have attached some photos as well. Enjoy!
